Good software is not enough for mass adoption: one also needs good marketing! To that end, Prav has been sending volunteers to various events and conferences (in India, for now) to spread awareness about Prav and XMPP.

At the moment, we are focusing on Free Software related events as people there are more likely to understand the value of Freedom and Privacy. Once we have a bigger team of volunteers, we can expand to other kinds of events as well.

This fund will help us provide financial assistance for food, accommodation, and/or travel costs to volunteers who need it, as well as possibly a small amount to print stickers and flyers for distribution.

What we do

So far, Prav volunteers have:

• Given talks explaining various aspects of Prav, XMPP, and federated/open communication in general
• Run stalls with interactive demos to encourage people to get their friends onto XMPP
• Distributed stickers and flyers related to Prav and XMPP
• Worn Prav t-shirts as conversation starters 😉
• Sold “xampu” bars as a humorous way to spread ideas about vendor lock-in and open communication
